HOWLS

I missed Navesink!

Howls out to the 2.4 Mile Racers: Matt "Jiffy" Lubiak and Andy "The Hammer" Solomon (5th AG) as well as to RJ "The Boogey Man" Boergers (5th AG:1.6 Miles),

Howl out to all our 70.3 racers this weekend!  What was really nice to see is, an across the board, strong biking splits.  The work that we've been doing to see the road results match to the Trainer takes A LOT of effort and this weekend, across the board, we saw strong biking performances that yielded solid race results.

Howl out to Jason "Magnum" Smith who raced at IronMan 70.3 DesMoines and FINALLY put together a solid consistent race.  Jason is an excellent runner and the heat of the course that day was very challenging.  After a worrying start, boom, got into a groove!

Howl out to Tara "Yes I Can" Corduan.  Tara's been plagued with different maladies that have really impacted her training and was considering dropping out of the race.  We talked about just making it a "fun raceday" and, despite monsoon-like, cold weather conditions, she held it together to hold together a strong bike and, after 13 minutes in the heat tent, persisted to knock out a good run!  Very pleased!

At IronMan Boulder 70.3, Howls out to:

- Taylor "Warrior Princess" Veranth who put her baseline effort down (5:57) to ready for the upcoming training (punch to the head) en route to IronMan Wisconsin.

- Eli "Lethal Weapon" Madden who overcame a series of bike issues the day before (i.e., tore bike tire, then non-functional front derailleur which left him only able to use his big ring) to have a solid day where he crushed his YOY result by 15 minutes (5:47)

- Natalie "The Avatar" Pitts who just missed a 70.3 PR (5:43), by placing 20th in F35-39.  Nat's goal was to get a World's Slot, but when I didn't see her at awards, I panicked.  Then, found out she didn't come as she was made Captain of and fully Sponsored by her Sky Diving Team as they chase the Women's World Record in November for the largers Heads Up Formation (if you look it up, you'll see what I am talking about).  Google Natalie Pitts Skydiving and you'll be amazed at what she accomplishes in the air!  Crazy! :)

- There were two races of the weekend that I thought were breakout performances.  Conner "Farm Boy" Franke rocked his new TT bike (5:13) and had a 70.3 PR and Adam "The Kaiju" Smith (5:48), whose goal was to slide under 6, came close to my thinking that he could get below 5:45 (8+ minute transition did it - easy fix there)!  Great work guys!  Farm Boy has been working to find work/life equilibrium and has been finding the 20+ minutes every day to do "something" and Adam has been tightly following the plan!  So happy for these guys!

- Nick Gusching finished his first ever triathlon at Boulder...  We met a month ago and decided that the goal was to not drown on the swim, do the bike, and run aid-station-to-aid-station.  We are looking at a 90-120-min improvement next race!

- Chris Kachinsky-Bye took 1st F50-54 (5:14) and I managed to workthrough my numb feet on the run with periodic stretching every quarter-to-half mile that subsided at Mile 5, but since I haven't run more than 4 miles in the past 5 months, never really picked it up but did place 9th M55-59 (5:28)

2024 Personal Record (14) and Podium (45) Counter = 59!
